What is Waqaf?
What is the ruling on it?
Answer
To completely hand over something in our possession to Allah swt's possession with the intention of pleasing Allah swt so that both the rich and the poor can benefit from it or handing it over in Masjid, Madrasa, Graveyard, Holy shrines, Travellers, sick etc is known as Waqaf.
The ruling regarding Waqaf is it cannot be sold, exchanged, taking or giving it for free use is prohibited and haraam. If someone indulges in such activities, it is considered sinful and against Shariah.
